Somatic psychotherapy to support your emotional wellbeing
📍 Lichfield and Birmingham.
Is this you?
You may be struggling with stress, anxiety, depression, or the pressure of life transitions — and it can feel exhausting trying to hold everything together. Perhaps you’ve been strong for a long time, managing responsibilities and showing up for others, while inside you feel tired, overwhelmed, or weighed down. You may also be carrying the impact of past experiences — events that were painful, frightening, or simply too much at the time — and that still echo in your body and nervous system today.
Are you looking for relief, a place to process, or a compassionate space to explore what has been weighing on you?
“Somatic” simply means “bodily”. It is a way of working that recognizes how your experiences — both positive and painful — aren’t held only in your thoughts, or in the way you respond to life. They also live in your nervous system, breathing and posture.
In our work together, we explore what is troubling you through conversation, while also noticing how these experiences are felt and held in your body. This allows us to work not only with insight, but with the deeper physiological patterns that shape how you experience life.
This process facilitates healing that feels embodied — not just intellectual.
Sometimes we don’t have words for what we’ve been through. At the time, it may have been too overwhelming, too early in life, or simply too much for the system to process. Trauma can leave us stuck in states of fight, flight, or freeze — long after the original situation has passed. Somatic psychotherapy offers a way to process these experiences safely and gradually, helping your nervous system integrate them a little at a time, without becoming overwhelmed.
The word “somatic” refers to a group of therapies that work with the nervous system and address both the body and mind. Within this field, there are many different approaches, and I offer Biodynamic psychotherapy developed by Gerda Boyesen.
My approach is grounded in safety, attunement, and deep respect for your process. In our sessions, we may talk, use imagery, mindfulness, or explore gentle movement to notice how your body experiences what’s happening. When appropriate, hands-on touch can also be included to support the nervous system, facilitate the process or encourage deeper integration (read more about it here).
Sessions are always led by you — your pace, your readiness. Change is a process that unfolds over time, and it happens when your body and mind are ready. I offer a compassionate space where you can freely explore, express yourself, and reconnect with your own experience.
